Hi
I thought I should tell this true story about my XYL and her experience =
with the K2/100.
At the end of March I had a complete hip replacement. Before the surgery =
I realized that I would be home in my upstairs bedroom for at least two =
weeks. Since the shack is in the lower level, I brought a coax from my =
shack antenna switch to my upstairs bedroom the week before surgery. I =
placed a Astron 20 amp supply under the bed and put the K2/100 and my =
old Dentron Jr. tuner on the night stand.
My xyl gave me the evil eye, but since I was going in for surgery she =
let it pass. I felt I would fight this battle with a play on her =
sympathy after surgery.
Well the operation went fine and I am now back at work and feeling good. =
I used the K2/100 each night to listen to 75 meters when I could not =
sleep. Even made a few CW contacts in the early AM using my head phones. =
In the morning my wife would go down to the shack and change my antenna =
from the G5RV to the 20 meter beam and I would talk to our friends in =
Florida.
When I was able to go back down stairs, I began to take the K2/100 with =
me. My xyl said that she thought that the rig should STAY right were it =
is. As a matter of fact, she now talks to her friends in Florida. She is =
WA8ZWW. She never liked going down to the shack, but this bedroom K2 bit =
seemed to turn her on to ham radio. Now that is REAL MOJO.
The Elecraft is still in the bedroom and I am having trouble getting it =
down to my bench so I can put in the new DSP. Maybe this wasn't such a =
good idea after all !!!
