God's country, Ron.  I was first licensed in Portland (1953) and go back 
there whenever possible.  I have a son living in Vancouver, a cousin in 
Hillsboro, and we have a daughter doing graduate work at U of O in 
Eugene.  I love climbing in the Cascades (which Lassen Pk and Shasta are 
part of, even though in Calif).  In fact, we will be camping at Diamond 
Lake (20 mi N of Crater Lake) for a week in early July; Mt. Thielsen 
("Lightening Rod of the Cascades") near there is a challenging hike (one 
I am likely not up to this Summer, alas).

A few years ago I did a trip with my cousin (also named Ron and my 
hiking/climbing partner) where we hit Crater Lake (aka Mt. Mazama), 
Thielsen, Bachelor, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier .. our 
"Volcano Trip".
