I'll second that recommendation.  The Begali Simplex is a great paddle
which can be adjusted for just about whatever spacing and resistance
you could desire.  I bought mine several months ago based on a
recommendation on this list and am quite pleased with it.  My Bencher
is going to the next hamfest.
