[Elecraft] Antennas - fiber glass pole

I was thinking of using an old quad spreader as an antenna support.  However, 
this fiber glass pole seems to be shedding small splinters of glass. Does 
anyone know of a flexible coating that would fix this?  I imagine that wax would 
work but I was thinking of something more permanent. Epoxy dries hard and 
would crack. The pole is very flexible.  Thanks for your thoughts.
