[Elecraft] K2: Weird problem selecting AGC FAST

I recently added the PLL temperature compensation mod. Everything went 
back together just fine. However, now my AGC is behaving oddly.

When I select the FAST AGC on a quiet band, the radio will mute somewhat, 
and I get a S5 to S9 meter indication, which slowly decays over 3-5 
seconds.

Any hint as to what to look for?
