[Elecraft] ELECRAFT NET: 17m Test "Results"

Good points, Rick.

I listened for a while here in Northwest Oregon.. Heard a QSO before the =
net
that ended right on the hour as the net should have been called, but =
then
heard nothing on the frequency until a QSO started up about 500 Hz away
about 10 minutes later. =20

That's the problem with using bands above 20 meters (and even 20 at =
times) -
it's a whole DIFFERENT band 1000 miles away, with QSO's booming in that
simply aren't heard elsewhere. For that reason I didn't call blind.=20

I did hear signals from time to time over the next hour, but never heard =
an
NCS calling for stations to check in or any or any comments about a net. =
Cdx
were very spotty, in part due to an S-9 noise level here for some =
reason. I
am used to hearing nothing more than an S-3 noise background when cdx =
are
lousy on 40! The noise blanker took it down to S5, but many of the =
signals
that I could here were dancing in and out of that too much to follow the
conversation.=20

The test net was not scrubbed. It was there on 18130 at least from 2025=20
when I found it. I heard half a dozen Elecrafters out here in Truckee,=20
CA. There is no problem moving +/- 5kHz when the designated frequency is =

occupied as it was today. One guy (KQ9L?) even QSOd the fellow who=20
occupied 18132 early on and mentioned the so-far invisible Elecraft net=20
but was unable to elicit a QSY from him. Might have worked better to ask =

outright....
