[Elecraft] K1 Receiver Alignment

Thanks for that Dave. Last night I aligned the K1 rx on 7,10 & 21megs with
only a few feet of wire in the kitchen! Most of the trimmers were near the
correct setting anyway. I can't here anything on 20m yet so I guess I'll
have to get more wire out and try again. I've got an old TS520, it has a
fault on tx but I may be able to get a few watts out of it on 14megs.

I've only been licensed a few weeks so not in any call books or qrz.com. I
think I can put myself into qrz.com? I'm in south Manchester.

Ok on the power supply. I'm using a variable 0-30V, 5A PSU but it's a bit
heavy for moving about. I'll either build one or maybe look around for a
cheap s/h one.

Getting on the air will have been a long process for me but I think it will
be worth it eventually.

Thanks and 73's .

Martin (M0KWV)

Martin

The K1 is quite critical to align, from what I recall when I built mine a
year ago following the manual seemed just fine. Some people have had
success
with transmitting a carrier at low power from another transceiver into a
dummy load and just picking up enough signal on a K1/K2 with a few feet of
wire for an antenna. I am in the fortunate position of having a pretty good
signal generator, so alignment is not a problem for me, although it's not
difficult to align a K1 without one.

The scope won't help.

I tried to look you up on QRZ.COM and Buckmaster, you aren't listed on
either site... I don't suppose you are in East Yorkshire are you?
