Well, I have come to the end of the road for now. I have built
everything I bought and I am now out of parts. (Sniff, sniff). The KPA
was installed this evening and had its first two QSOs. The second one
yielded F0/F8DQL on 20 meter CW at 9:45 PM local when the band was just
about gone. The reports were 559 each way. The KPA was doing 90 watts
(I didn't run it quite wide open . . . why tempt fate on the first
night, hi). That is a good haul from Ohio under any circumstances.
I continue to be impressed with the K2 - - now a K2/100. What a nice
radio indeed. The FT 1000D sitting next to it looks unhappy. I plan to
continue exploring lower power but there are times when QRO is needed.
I guess 90-100 watts isn't so sinful compared to what it might do hooked
up to the Commander HF 2500. But that can wait. Now to try it out on
SSB.
