[Elecraft] Noise Blanker Question

If you have doubts, I would build the K1 and use it for a while in the
environment of your choice. You should soon learn if you have a noise
problem. Generally speaking all noise blankers can only do so much.
They can be effective with some man made noise and even some atmospheric
noise but they can't work miracles. I think the NB in my K2 is one of
the better ones but even it has limits. And the use of noise blankers
can degrade the dynamic range to a certain extent. The more aggressive
they are, the greater the degradation. On the other hand, it doesn't
cost all that much and it does have its occasional uses. However, I
would become familiar with the K1 first and then you will have a better
idea as to whether to try a NB. Remember, a K1, unlike many other
radios, is modular. You can build the radio first and then add the NB
later if you think it would be helpful. You don't have to decide with
the initial purchase.

Subject: [Elecraft] Noise Blanker Question
Hey Everybody,
I am new to the list, and am *strongly* considering
buying a K1!
Should I consider getting one with a NB?
I don't plan on using it mobile so I don't think I
need one.
I plan on using this radio at the park... does the
power at the park ( i.e. lights, or anything else I
can't think of ) require me to a a NB?
Thanks!
Peter, KB7INO
