[Elecraft] K2 Power indication, CW vs SSB question

Thanks, Ron, for your insightful and thoughtfully written response.
To use your analogy, I try to stay within the "speed limit"! As you said,
"Where's the joy" if you can't face yourself in the mirror.

I had received an email from a Sparton Sprint op commenting on my strong
signal. This set me to wondering just how much power I was running. Thus
the question I posted. I am satisfied I was working at 'legal' QRP limit
of 5w (CW) and chalk up the strong signal to the current propagation
condition between the two stations.

I have enjoyed remarkable success with this K2 having achieved DXCC and
WAS running at the 5w level. I usually place mid-way in the pack in my
contesting endeavors. My modest urban QTH is in the flatlands of Silicon
Valley, (San Jose) CA and the antenna is a Force12 C4 at about 50ft; I
feel strong; perhaps that gives me a psychological advantage!
