Hi Bruce - I left my original pins in and did not use the keying inserts.
Just do a good job of marking the connector so you won't plug it in the
wrong way. I just didn't want to do away with the 8T possibility even
thought there is no current application that uses it . . . so I kept it
available - "just in case." So far, no harm done! Leaving the pins in
does increase one's need to be vigilant but it's not like you are
constantly plugging and unplugging that connector. I works for me! BTW -
my KPA-100 went together easily and works flawlessly. Have fun --don n4hh
