First I am new to the list so excuse some basic and generic questions, etc)
I have been a long time BA user and recent change in health events has me
thinking strongly about selling off the whole kit'n'kaboodle and going to a
very basic set up.

The reason for the K1 is the occasional hiking and filed ops where the K2
might not be appropriate (which I am finding hard to discern)

I operate about 80/20 CW and SSB. My Cw is mostly straight key and 10-20wpm..
I do have a march paddle and a Bencher Paddle that I hope to learn to use in
the near future. I love to eavesdrop in on SSB discussions; I find I learn a
lot of good information.

I am looking at making the change to the K2/K1 family. Reason is it woul dget
me down to just baskic equipment I needed for operation. I will miss just the
plain knobs and changing over to menus and who knows may even go to
electronic log keeping.

I am a casual operator and caual contester but do enjoy a nicely filtered
signal.

Specs do not mean a lot to me so I hope some locals will get to
demonstratight their rigs. And Yes my intent is to build the little rascales

I am debating on some of the modules and thinking about getting a 100 watt
amp mounted in a seperate case just for those times when the sun spots are
really low. But since I am not a conterster maybe that extra 80 watts would
not make a difference..

Although an engineer I am some what technically challenged electronically and
so have been hesitent to let go of the Ten Tec radios. At present here is the
list of accumulated radios:

I will be lurking and hoping to learn a lot about these radios and will
always be open to suggestions. At present i am leaning toward at least a K2
with all bells and wistles except the amp. Also i just acquired an LDG-Z-11
so not sure if an internal tuner would be appropriate.

Please feel free to be candor with me. I have been a great proponent of the
Wilderness Sierra so not sure if a K1 is necessary. Be brutally honest with
me and I hope as the the affects of the drugs have worn off I can make some
good decisions.

Thank you all for the use of the bandwidth. Take care my friends--- and have
a good Spring

The present station is as follows:
Ten Tec CORSAIR(all
ten Tec filters) / VFO / SPKR-PS / 229 TUNER

(I am sending Corsair and Scout to Ten Tec for complete alignment just to
make sure of their operation)

Drade R-B twins, MS-4, MN-2000(copper is still shinny), L4B and PS
Swan 350A (mint--never been on the air)

I can send a station picture when the time becomes appropriate. As noted I am
hanging aound this list to see if the K2 and maybe K1 is a better way to go
for my operation---thanks
