The DSP software will be open-source, linked to proprietary Elecraft
software modules for the interface, so anyone can develope DSP code
for the module.

The only other thing I remember about the DSP option is that it consists
of two small PC boards. One of them you assemble like any other Elecraft
kit and the other (slightly smaller) board is preassembled because of the
impossibility of the builder being able to solder the leads of the
components to the board without creating hundreds of solder bridges (the
many leads on the microprocessor IC are spaced extremely close to each
other, for instance). The two boards plug directly together, and plug
onto the K2's RF board as a unit.
You'l have to wait until Elecraft posts the information on their Web site
for any more detailed info on this option or on any other of the new
options.
