[Elecraft] Spam alert

Today, I received an item of spam addressed to
"[email protected]". This is the first time it has ever
happened, as I don't normally use this address, so I was very surprised. I
have my own domain, and all mail, including mail to my qsl.net address, is
forwarded to that. I did a Google search to see where the spammer had found
this address, and found it here:
www.ac6rm.net/mailarchive/html/elecraft-list/ 1999-09/msg00195.html , and
many similar places. I recall that I subscribed to the Elecraft list using
this address several years ago, before I got an address at qsl.net.

As someone who likes to read this reflector offline, I wanted to applaud
the work of AC6RM in setting up the new reflector archive. It is a
marvellous facility. But I am afraid that if, as it seems, it results in
email addresses appearing in clear text in places where search engines and
other robots can find them, we are all going to receive a lot of spam
because of this. Spam is a major headache for me with my other addresses.
There is no known method that is 100% effective at eliminating it. So far,
my qsl.net address has been mercifully free of it. I'm now afraid that this
is no longer going to be the case, since I can find my qsl.net address in
the archives using a Google search too. I'll bet that *your* address is
there too. It's probably too late now (I'm still getting spam to an address
I last used 4 years ago, that appeared briefly on one website), but can
something be done about it?
