With all this talk of Win"doze" I thought I'd forward this little April

BTW if you are upgrading from Windows 95/98 to ME/2000/XP or XP pro, one
thing that you need to be aware of is that any old windows software
and/or DOS software that uses the ports (serial port or parallel port)
will most likely have problems. The newer Windows OS takes complete
control of these resources and will not release them. There is a work
around though. A program called Port Talk will allow these older
programs to work. There's a copy on my web page at:
http://www.qsl.net/kg6cyn/Software_Dev.htm. There's also a link to the
author's home page. I had to use this for all kinds of older apps that I
still find handy for development. Any of the older logging software that
keys the rig from the serial port or similar will most likely have
problems with this issue.
