Try:
1. Start/Run/cmd
2. enter your full telnet command
That way the window will stay up and you could see any error messages.

Subject: [Elecraft] telnet n7tr.com problem...need help
Hi All-
Several weeks ago Jerry, K6III, posted a note to the reflector
suggesting
connecting to <telnet n7tr.com> (w/o brackets) for a simple, effective
way
to get a fix on current DX spots. That particular telnet site is one of
many. I used it several times in Win XP a month ago, and found it fun
to
set filters and observe what was happening on the bands.
After several weeks away from <telnet n7tr.com> (and hamming in general)
because of work conflicts, I tried reconnecting to it again yesterday,
and
am unable to make it operate. Jerry assures me that the site is working
since he opened it successfully himself yesterday.
The baffling part is that the site opens briefly for me--very briefly
(maybe
100-200msec)--on my PC and then IMMEDIATELY disappears from sight. It's
not
running in the background and is essentially totally absent from this
PC.
The drill to open it is to poke RUN in Windows, type in <telnet
n7tr.com> to
connect, and follow the syntax rules for various command settings. As I
said, it worked very well for me several weeks ago, but it remains a
mystery
now about how to make it run AGAIN on this PC. No doubt I'm either
dumb-thumbing something or else have reset a control I've forgotten
about,
but whatever the trouble is escapes me.
Please excuse the off-topic question, but does anyone have any
suggestions
for what to set (or reset) in WinXP to remedy my problem? So far Jerry
and
I are both baffled. Just FYI every other internet connection I've tried
since seeing the <telnet n7tr.com> problem has worked just fine.
Any thoughts you'd care to share would be appreciated.
