Hi,
Just one comment on the issue.
Unless there is a spec somewhere that says otherwise, I would be slightly
wary of driving the KAT100 over 50ft of cable due to line losses. However I
guess this can be easily tested in the shack using a reel of cable.
You could also use wireless serial comms between the K2 and the tuner. The
wireless modules will need to provide full duplex at 4800bps. You might get
some swamping problems when working at full power, but induction of the
wireless signals from your inter-connection coax (eg leaky feeder-type mode)
will give you probably more than the rated distance of your wireless
modules.
I've used this wireless approach to manage multiple mag-loop antenna arrays
which use individual embedded controllers to control each capacitor. Same
problems - signal swamping when keying up etc, but all can be overcome with
good RF techniques.
