[Elecraft] Packet and K2

Hi folks,
   I am required to get one of my rigs running packet for an ARES exercise and want some input on the cheapest, 
simplest way to get my K2 hooked to my computer.  Is there a very simple way to use the K2 and my sound card to get 
up an running on packet or should I wait until I have a couple hundred spare dollars to spend on a RigBlaster?  Can I 
wire the K2 directly to the sound card with audio cables and a few discrete components or do I need all manner of 
isolation between the rigs?  If the answer is audio cables and discrete parts it is almost ready, if not I will bow out of the 
ARES operation and wait until the coffers are full of spare cash :)
