[Elecraft] Mobile Computer with K2 (pse help!!)

Hello all,

I am new to this forum so I apologize if my question has been previously =
addressed.  I'm thinking about building a highly mobile HF/VHF station =
around a K2 that I can use to travel with for an extended period of time =
in several countries.  (College senior, hitting the road world events =
allowing...)  Ideally I'd like to carry all of my radio and electronics =
gear in one bag or briefcase, along with a second container for =
antennas.

Specifically, I am interested in computerizing the station operations.  =
I'd like to have full rig interface between K2 and logging software, =
plus digital mode functionality, certainly on HF and perhaps also on =
VHF/UHF with the use of transverters.

Can these functions be performed on a handheld palm-style computer, or =
is a full-fledged laptop required?  Has anyone already integrated a palm =
handheld using the RS-232 on the K2, and if so, how did you handle I/O?  =
What about getting a palm to run digital modes simultaneously?  Can it =
be done??  For lightweight travel it would really be nifty to do =
everything with a palm and not a laptop!

Otherwise, what are the typical ways that rig control and digital =
communications are run simultaneously with a K2 and Windows-based PC?
