Hi Gang,

Thanks for all the replies.  My trouble was that I misread the pinouts for 
the connectors at each end of the cable from the rig to the PC.  My advice, 
DO NOT LOOK AT THE DIAGRAMS AND BUILD THE CABLE, USE ONLY THE PIN NUMBERS!

So, 3 hours later, all is fixed. Now onto the SSB module.
