[Elecraft] Contesting; history?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "longest QSO" ... time spent rag-chewing,
distance between the two stations, or?

Contests are generally scored as (QSO points) x ("multipliers"). QSO points
are often just the number of QSOs, i.e., one point per QSO. But some
contests assign different points values based on where the two stations are
located. Most of the time, this is correlated to geographic distance, but
not always. In the Stew Perry 160 meter contest, grid squares are exchanged
and the QSO points are based on the distance between grid square centers, 1
point for every 500Km (or miles, I forget). In the CQWW, QSO points are
based on what continent YOU are in and what continent the OTHER station is
in, PLUS a 2x lift on 40-160 meters.

I don't see how a contest could be practically managed by keeping track of
the time duration of QSOs.
