I was reading somewhere on the internet (so it has to be true) that the new 
breed of DSP processors are operation in the 500 Mhz area and/or 
above.  Now, wouldn't that be a kick if those smart little devices could be 
put in a 455 kHz IF or even higher.  I understand the cost of these buggers 
are rather high...around $2000 a pop.  Maybe we will see the $10,000 ham 
radio transceiver and guys who will buy them.

Which makes me reflect on the great but inexpensive K2.  What a marvel of 
engineering and design for the money for the performance you get.  Boggles 
the mind...but my mind is easily boggled these days.
