My apologies to Jerry (K6III) for not realizing state/province in the
exchange is good
for folks chasing awards. D'oh! ;^)
The country really should go, though. It's obvious, redundant information
that can be
a problem for casual folks giving out contacts that makes a little rate
possible. I'm
afraid I don't think getting rid of RST is a good idea for that reason, as
well as being
info the QRP crowd should appreciate.
Another possible change to points/QSO would be to make working Elecraft
stations
more & Elecraft-to-Elecraft Qs worth even more (1:3 perhaps). FTs might be
five for
all & N6KR/WA6HHQ at least ten.
A multiplier to recognize using lower power as well as one for working
different serial
numbers as suggested by K6SE could then be applied (with K1s, K2s & Kns
counting separately).
Somebody who gets out pretty well with low power could potentially give a
gung-ho
K2/100 op a run for the money with a scoring system like that. So the QRP
crowd
could compete, the competitive types do their thing & the ragchew folks can
continue on from there - EQP for all!
Oops - left some folks out. It's the EQP, so it should be any mode you can
get your
Elecraft rig to do for each running. The portable operators have their own
top ten box
in the results. Instead of a battery bonus, how about another top ten box
for the
equivalent of Field Day class E (home station emergency power)? Once a year
obviously isn't enough, either. And keep the honor system (submit summary
sheets
only) to keep the administrative burden down.
