One of the first things I plan to do when my Orion arrives is to compare
it with my TS-830S, FT-1000MP and K2.  I'll let you all know how it
stacks up against those rigs.

My preferred contest rig is the FT-1000MP, due to it's better selectivity
(125 Hz xtal filter + 60 Hz DSP filter), and therefore its better S/N
ratio for hearing weak 160-meter CW signals.  Yesterday I configured the
K2 as the main rig (preparing for the EQP) and was delighted to work into
EU (Sweden and Italy) last night with it on 160m from here on the left
coast.  The KAF2 audio filter is what made it possible to dig the signals
out of the noise.
