Andreas;
Their manual
(http://www.steppir.com/pdf/yagi%20instructions%20feb%205%202003.pdf) page
27 has a nice picture of a Y adapter you can build. The SteppIR only
needs the K2's TX and GND connections - no handshaking lines required.
You can either go in and tap directly in to the cable you built for the
K2, or build your own "Y" adapter per their drawing (or buy one). The K2
is fully capable of supplying the controller with the data that it needs
in a format that it wants (the K2 supplies Kenwood-type data sentences).
If you are going to tap in to your existing K2 cable, Refer to the KIO2 or
KPA100 manual for which pins are TX and GND on either end of the K2 cable.
If you use their "Y" cable (or if you create your own separate "Y" cable
without modifying your existing K2 serial cable), you MUST use the K2
cable (the one you built when you installed the KPA or KIO unit) on the
rig side, then plug THAT in to the "Y" cable -- DO NOT plug the "Y" cable
directly in to the radio (see KPA100 or KIO2 manual warnings about this).
