[Elecraft] Semi OT: Antenna setup for mobiling

I'm considering trying mobiling for the first time (just SSB). A friend is
picking up one of the closeout RS HTX-10 10m rigs for $70 for me. While
48" mag-mount whips are available for 10m, I'd prefer to try out a
Hamstick/Valor/Iron Horse-type single-band antenna.

My primary question is what types of mounts are suitable. The car is a '90
Accord (my commuter car), without a hitch-mount currently installed.  I
know 3-magnet mounts would work, but they're not exactly attractive. I
will be removing at least the whip daily, so the quick release mounts
available from Valor or Iron Horse look handy.

Is a trunk-lip mount strong enough for an 8' fiberglass whip?
Is a base spring necessary?
