Sorry Gary, but Elecraft recommends removing the probe when it is not being
used. Leaving the probe (or a wire) connected to the test points can
increase spurious radiation.
If you have the SSB option installed, you can locate TP1 easily. With the
front panel facing you, TP1 is very near the left rear cornar of the SSB
board. Incidently, TP2 is at the hole location near the center of the SSB
board.
If you do not have the SSB board installed, feel for the row of 3 relays
about 1 1/2 inches behind the control panel - if you start at the Left of
the RF board, the first of the relays is about a half inch from the left
side panel - after locating the relays, move further to the left - about 1
inch - and you will locate U3, an 8 pin IC (there is a transistor between
the row of 3 relays and the IC). Once you locate the U3 IC, move about a
half inch toward the rear and you should find TP1.
