This has been a very interesting thread.

Coincidentally, just last week I re-did the C22 adjustment and needed to
re-run CAL PLL several times, which I did.  I did it with the top cover off
and the results were satisfactory (I was not able to do the adjustment with
Spectrogram -- I had to "ear-ball" it using WWV at 10 MHz).  After I saw
these recent posts I thought I would try it again with the cover ON.  I
can't say I noticed too much of a difference (again, I was not able to
measure it exactly) but what I did notice was a slight shift of the pitch of
the signal as I put the cover off and on (and as the speaker magnet moved in
and out).

Interesting ....
