[Elecraft] first straight key

I must confess to one of my minor obsessions - I have a small collection
of straight keys, and have been wondering about a bug and what they are
like to use. I have used paddles and an accu-keyer which appeared in
the ARRL handbook years ago. The paddles I have are the Bencher BY1 and
the New Zealand Galbraith which is simple and works nicely. But I do
not have a bug. Yet.
The straight keys include a Wm. Nye brass Speedex with rectangular base
and shorting switch, a couple of New Zealand WT 8 amp No. 2 keys
(commonly known as the ZC1 key, although this pattern was used all over
the British Commonwealth in WWII), an Australian Clipsal, a New Zealand
Supreme, a Hungarian military key with cover and a home made key similar
in pattern to a BPO key.
I would appreciate comments on keyers, (although the K2 has one built
in, does it not?) and what people think of bugs. I have admired the
McElroy and the Vibroplex bugs, but they cost bulk dollars in Oz terms
and I don't want to make an outlay without gaining some general advice.
Thanks
Kevin
