[Elecraft] LCD Installation

Advice please....

On the front panel assembly I am on page 26.  I can't get the LCD pins =
to protrude thru to the bottom of the board. =20

On the diffuser there is a piece plastic backing on the top of the =
diffuser.  Should I pull this off to get the pins to protrude?
