Running the final tests on my K2, I cannot get more than 5 watts on
40m, current shows .88 amps. On 20, with the power set at 5 watts, I
actually measure 10 watts with current showing 2 amps. On 15m with power
set at 5 watts, I get about 4 watts at 1.5 amps.
The receiver seems to work very well
Checking voltages, etc:
a. Transmit mixer output key down on pin 4 U10 is way low at .004v RMS.
b. Buffer output U9 pin 6 key down is .019 v rms on 40 mtrs. Higher on
15 meters.
c. Working back to the VCO and PLL, I get .254 volts rms on the
reference osc at pin 1 of U4.
d. The VCO output shows .088 Vrms U3 pin 3.
e. The VCO buffer output shows .169 Vrms on U3 pin 6.
Voltages on Q1, Q2 and Q19 all ok.
f. U8 voltages all OK except that the values for pins 10 and 11 are
swapped - pin 10 is 5 volts, pin 11 is zero. Sounds like a logic issue -
these were measured with the front panelinstalled.
Components so far seem properly installed. The probe seems to be OK -
The BFO output measures .163 Vrms - a bit low but not nearly as much as
the previous measurements.
Anyone have some suggestions as to how to proceed?
