That's a great pity.  But don't be too hasty in drawing conclusion, 
John.  Although Morse might ceases to be an international requirement as 
far as the ITU is concerned, it is still up to individual 
administrations to decide on the local qualifications for an amateur 
licence.  Indeed, Morse will continue to be a requirement in Russia.

The thinking of retaining a Morse qualification is that it promotes good 
operating practice.  And when one hears the general standard of 
operating on our bands these days, there is certainly plenty room for 
improvement.
