Guy,

If you think that QRP operators brag about what they worked then I don't
think you understand the attraction of QRP at all. What the QRP op feels is
a sense of wonder that such a tiny amount of power can propagate a signal
to <insert DX location here.> From the comments I sometimes get ("your QRP
is doing great" etc.) I think the other guy sometimes feels it too. I'm
sorry that you don't.

The guy with the kilowatt and beam *knows* that if he can hear the DX, the
DX should be able to hear him, so where's the magic? Why not just send him
an email? It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time
and getting heard over everyone else in the pile-up.

That's the biggest source of frustration for the low power station. You
don't *need* high power to work the DX much of the time, but you do usually
need it for them to hear you calling in the first place. That's why I'm
arguing there should be more publicity given to aspects of the hobby that
the less well-equipped stations can participate in without becoming
frustrated.

73,

I'm having as much fun with my K2 barefoot as the next guy, but those who
pound
their chest with a look-what-I-did beat when they work a rare one need to
consider the stuff on the other end.
