Folks:

Todd, N9NE and myself will be operating the ARRL FD 2003 in the 2B
category this weekend. We will be running 1 K-2. Antennas will include
both a 44' doublet (facing N-S), and an 88' doublet (facing E-W), both
fed with 450 ohm line, through HB Balanced tuners based on the ZM-2
design. We will also be running a small vee beam facing E-S-E. We will
be using a multi-position switching arrangement which will allow instant
antenna switching on each band for directional control.

We will be operating from WY, although the exact location has not
yet been sleeted within that state. If you need WY for any type of QRP
award, just send a card to my home address listed on QRZ.COM. I QSL
100% on all cards received WITH and SASE.

Antenna erection and testing will begin on Wednesday 6-25 at the
chosen site.

The ARRL FD event is kind of a sacred cow for me. It was during this
event that I heard my very first amateur radio transmission. It was a
station calling CQ FD in the AM mode on 40M, tuned in on my
grandmother's upright 30's style Philco radio. Funny how something like
sticks in one's memory over the years, and I can't remember where I
parked my car 15 minutes before. ;)

We both hope to work as many QRP'ers and K-1's and K-2's as possible
during the contest. Good luck to all FD participants, have tons of fun,
and all please remember to be SAFE!
