Another consideration, though, is frequency coverage. If you use the 28 MHz -
29.7 MHz band as the IF, then frequency coverage on 1.25 meters will be
222.000 MHz - 223.970 MHz. You will not be able to transmit or receive from
223.970 MHz - 225.000 MHz unless your HF rig has extended coverage above
29.7 MHz.
Most FM activity on 1.25 meters in on or near 223.500 MHz.
