A null modem does:
 Croses TD and SD,
 Ties the Hardware Handshaking lines together in such a way as each end
handshakes with itself.

A K2 cable does:
 Passes TD, SD and Ground,
 Uses bunches of pins for Non-RS232 signals (ALC, 8R, 12V etc.).

DO NOT USE COMPUTER CABLES on a KIO2.

I am trying to send commands to the KIO2 using my HP48GX calculator. I have
the cable to connect the calculator to a computer. By using a paper clip I
was able to jumper the connector to the K2 and switch the RX and TX lines. I
successfully sent a command to the K2. Is this what a Null Modem cable does?
