This reflector is renowned for a few topic which keep coming up and
lead to heated discussions. The one about what to clean Elecraft
boards with is one of them. Some of the suggestions leave me
speechless.
Forget about going to your off licence, chemist, pinching the XYL's
nail varnish and use the proper stuff - it's called Flux Cleaner and
its available from your electronics store - at least it is in the UK.
I use Electrolube Fluxclene, FLU4000, available in 400ml aerosols.
The label reads 'A rapidly drying blend of solvents for removing
contaminants from printed circuit boards and flux residues after
soldering. Test small area before use on plastics'
Used regularly here for my business repairs and also on the K2. Works
well, causes no harm, and leaves a professional appearance to my
work.
