Fred,
You can have a big signal on 80m and "make do" as someone said. We have
placed high in FD by using low but very large circumference horizontal
loops. Each side is one separate wire, easy to put up with a ladder that
allows us to hang the loop 20 feet high.

We join the corners with wire nuts, and feed with 450 ohm ladder line in one
corner. Usually make the total wire 1.5 waves at 160m, and that gives some
gain on 80 and lots of gain the higher bands you go! You use a tuner of
course with 4:1 balun and it works great! Most fun we have had in years.
You get both a low angle and a high angle take off which is good for all
over FD region. We modeled ours to prove that. But the results told us
too. Missed 3 sections? But worked SSB to Indonesia with 5 watts on 20m.

We have put them up square, rectangular, and N sided, when we had to fill up
some room. Have used others of 660 feet around, and 330 feet around.
Actually used the biggest 849 feet around on 20m. 80m was on 660. 40 on
330. Also used 660 on 10m and 15 m.
GL and 72,
Stuart K5KVH Put it along that ridge and it will get out like gangbusters.
There is added gain if you put it on a edge of a drop off.
