Karl is talking about the "half-sloper" which is a quarter-wave sloper,
however the original post was about a half-wave sloping (or vertical)
dipole fed at its center.

He is correct on how you would feed a half-sloper, but be aware that the
major radiation from this type of an antenna is from the tower and *not*
from the wire.  It can be looked upon as another method of shunt-feeding
a tower.  A tower which is shunt-fed in the normal manner will outperform
the half-sloper.
