I had the same results (and same worries) with my DVM, but #3401 works
fine. I think I read somewhere that you sometimes get readings closer
to what the manual says using an analog ohmmeter. Maybe the
instructions were written to allow for that possibility.
Hard to tell without looking if your soldering is adequate, but if the
hole is filled, it sounds OK to me.
