[Elecraft] mic up/dn/func on K2

I recently constructed a microphone using an elecret insert
in an old rt mic casing .. I brought out the up/dn and func
lines and connected them to push to make buttons connecting to gnd.
However activating any of these only causes the K2 to switch between vfo a and vfo b .. these does not seem to be
any menu activation or ability to scan freq in 10 Hz increments as described in the KIO manual for the up and dn commands ..
Have I done something wrong or does the firmware not support
this yet
