Ideally, David, you might be right that hams should match all the knobs, but
hams have been changing tuning knobs since I got into radio in 1957, and
probably for 50 years before!

Over here, at swap meets, we see many receivers with changed main tuning
knobs. I just hope all those K2 changed knobs are not discarded, (the
originals), but kept for the eventual resale of the rig.  Another possible
knob candidate is the knob for the Argonaut V Ten Tec QRP radio; as it has
the desired finger spinner hole.
