I have a 12' fiberglass mast that telescopes to 36" that I can use
with the Superanntennas Yagi for b0th vertical and horizontal
polarization. I also have a Portaple mast, again packs into 36", that
gives me 24' horizontal polarization. This latter was used for 12M
operation from S05X.

The vertically polarized Yagi is particularly effective on the beach.

Doug suggests a SuperAntennas yagi, and I was thinking of a couple
Iron Horse whips end to end to make a dipole for some lower bands, but
the problem is, how do you get these things sufficiently high up in
the air? A beach location suggests there are no trees, and the
airplane trip would seem to eliminate the possibility of a
tower. Helium baloons or kites seem impractical.

Wouldn't the only option be a vertical, such as the MP-2, or perhaps a
collapsable (and thus more portable) magnetic loop such as the one by
   Antenna Engineering DL4KCJ?
