Jason,

With regard to you worry of the 'gutter stake' and air travel, I expect that
it will be no problem if it is checked into the cargo hold.  Putting the
entire antenna with it in checked baggage will provide some semblance of
explaination.  I know that I do not like using checked baggage and the rules
are a bit crazy but that is one idea.

another idea would be to find a local who is willing to receive shipment of
the antenna for you and mail it to him.  That way you can pick it up when
you get there and mail it home when you are done.

Just a couple of alternative ideas.
