Hi Guys, took your advice and have tested 50m of my RG58/U coax.
With 5W input and terminating with a 50ohm resistive load, approx. output
figures are (using pretty rough and ready wattmeter reading)
7megs 3.9W -0.022db/m (0.037 in published data)
10megs 3.4W -0.034db/m (0.045 in published data)
14megs 3.2W -0.039db/m (0.054 in published data)
21megs 3.9W -0.06db/m (0.067 in published data)
As you guys pointed out these are matched losses, but they don't look bad
to me. With a 40m dipole and using 100 feet total run I should have approx
-0.66db loss in the feeder ie 4.3W to the antenna. So I'll go for it.
Thanks for the advice folks. Hope to get on the air for the first time next
week when I get the dipole up.
