 Just completed (as far=
as one can ever say completed) K2 S/N 3527. What a FB project=
 !

 The only constructional=
problem was I left a wire link out on the RF board. Total build=
 time for K2, KNB2, K160RX and KSB2 about 42 hours including 3=

 checking the=
 inventory.

 The RX is everything=
that people have been raving about, it leaves my FT1000MP=
 standing.

 My only adverse=
 comments are:-

 On switching on/off I=
get rather a loud {quot}thump{quot} from the speaker.=

Also it is a shame that=
the options assembly/operating instructions could not be=
incorporated into the excellent user manual.

 I don't like the loose=
 leaflets.

 To match the MD-100 mic=
I had to build a 1 transistor pre amp with about 20dB=
gain. This is constructed on a small piece of board which is=
 glued onto the side of

 a computer connector=
which mounts on the mic patch connector P1 on the control panel.=
I now have enough SSB TX audio.

 The VOX sensitivity is=
not quite as high as I would like and on investigation find that=
I am not sure of what is happening around U4 on the=
 KSB2.

 Perhaps someone can=
explain why COMP OUT is used for PTT DET and why ALC TR is used=
 for /VOX DET.

 I am looking forward to=
 building the KPA100.
