You do not have to have the KIO for the K2 to communicate with the KAT100.
You just need to make up a cable from the P4 on the K2 control board to a
DB9 connector on the rear of the K2 and then make a cable to go between the
K2 and KAT100.  You need to bring to the rear connector from K2 CTL BD P4
the following pins

P4  Pin2  (AUXBUS)   to pin 6 on rear DB9 connector   (Green)
P4  Pin 5 (Ground)        to Pin 1
(Drain Wire)
P4  Pin 8 (12CTRL)      to Pin 8                                       (Red)
P4  Pin 9 (8R)                to Pin 9
(Black)
P4 Pin 10 (VRFDET)     to Pin 7                                     (White)

A straight thru pin for pin cable will connect the two together.
