Yep, for power ratios. If you measure RF voltage instead of power at each
end its dB =20 log E1/E2.
And keep in mind that the loss you measure is ONLY valid for low SWR's,
although the handbooks all have decent "guides" for how much the loss
increases with SWR assuming you know the SWR when the line is matched.

Well my question on coax certainly got you fellas going!! Anyhow thanks to
all for the many responses. Now why didn't I think of just measuring the
loss with a dummy and wattmeter. It's so obvious when someone says it. I'll
check out my coax as suggested. Now what's that formula I think it's loss
db=10logP1/P2 or something like that. Thanks again to all.
