[Elecraft] k2 and Icom sm-6 mic

has anyone wired up an Icom sm-6 to the K2 ??

this is the configuration I used...(I have the jumpers on the radio set for
the Heil,  so I rewired the mic as follows...)

pin 1 - AUDIO   which has 5v for pre-amp

pin 2 - PTT

pin 7 - SHIELD

pin 8 - GROUND for  PTT

I also have the 5.6k res. from pin 6 to pin 1 one the back of the mic
connector on the radio that came with the elecraft-heil mic.

the mic works fine except I have to have the mic right on my lips to get any
real audio out of it.....I know the sm-6 is designed to work on 8v.  could
this be why???
