My K1 was the same way. I wound up resetting the 20/15
trimmer caps to a different position than half-way and
starting alignment again. It worked fine after that.

Also, spin those caps several times because they can
be tarnished and the wiper may not be making good contact
when first installed.=20

Always remember that (in general) the Elecraft kits work
as-designed. Don't substitute components where you think
the design may be wrong without careful consideration. I
had to remind a certain longtime ham and former EE in
my family tree of that fact when he built his K1. :-)
